Confirmation

The Sacrament of Confirmation, together with Baptism and the Eucharist, is one of the Sacraments of Christian initiation.  These three Sacraments form us more fully into the image of Christ making us "fully initiated" members of His Church.  

Confirmation, as Pope Francis explained, "unites us more firmly to Christ: it strengthens our relationship with the Church and it gives us a special strength from the Holy Spirit to defend the faith and confess the name of Christ.”  Through our anointing with the sacred chrism, we receive the gift of the Holy Spirit and are strengthened – ‘confirmed’ – in the grace of our Baptism and in our mission of bearing daily witness to Christ and his love.   

This Sacrament of zeal and strength fills us with the joy of the Holy Spirit so that we may, as Pope Francis states, "always mirror Christ’s presence in our relations with others, our openness to those in need, and our living witness to the Gospel message of joy and peace.”

Confirmation is part of our 8th grade religious instruction classes either in the school or in our PSR (Parish School of Religion) for students in public or home school.  Anyone interested in receiving the Sacrament of Confirmation must contact Barb Yoder, the Pastoral Associate of St. Bernard Parish at extension 5.   

Teens who wish to be Confirmed in January of 2025, must attend the Summer PARISH SCHOOL OF RELIGION program (June 10-21).  Registration forms are on this website. Specific sacrament preparation will take place in the fall.  Candidates for Confirmation must attend both.  Confirmation will be offered again on Sunday, January 26, 2025.

Adults who would like to be confirmed will recieve separate instruction, but should also contact Barb Yoder, the Pastoral Associate at extension 5.
